Obituary

Edward Thomas Fields departed this earth on January 5, 2014 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born on March 7, 1937 to William and Nancy Fields in Cynthiana Kentucky. Mr. William Fields moved the family to Cincinnati, Ohio. Edward attended Blessed Martin Elementary School. Later, he attended Lockland Wayne High School from 1953-1957. He developed a love and appreciation for literature; especially Shakespeare's play Macbeth during his senior year English class. His instructor, Mr. Gravely introduced Edward to Byron, Shelly, Keats, and other writers and Edward like his classmates entered a new world filled with excitement, themes and drama. After high school, Edward served in the Air Force from 1957-1961. He attended Antonelli School of Photography in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1964-1966 and graduated with a Commercial Photography Diploma. He worked for several photography studios in Pennsylvania. Edward moved back to Cincinnati, Ohio and married Anna Winfrey of Rolla Missouri on April 8, 1967. The union was blessed with a daughter Melanie Ann Fields. He worked for the United State Department of Defense at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 28 years photographing and supervising photographic technicians in scientific, commercial, industrial, and medical photography. He received many awards for his photographic and supervisory skills. Edward received the Department of Air Force Special Achievement (Sustained Superior Performance) in 1982-1983. He retired as a civilian Photographer/Supervisor March 30, 1993. Edward T. Fields also specialized in wedding photography and family portrait fundraisers. At the Professional Photographers of Ohio 1992 convention, his print entitled "Ginger" was accepted for exhibition. In 1994 his print entitled "Alaska Ice Floe was accepted for exhibition for the Cleveland Society Trophy Unclassified Division. From April 1999 through 2003 he was the official photographer for the members of The National Organization of the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers. He also, received two Life Touch Portrait Excellent Awards Region Twelve, photographing students in the Kentucky school system during 1997 and 1998. In May 2000 he began working for Virtual Home Tours, photographing residential and commercial real estate in Ohio and Kentucky. He leaves behind his devoted wife Anna W. Fields, daughter Melanie Ann Fields, siblings William Fields Jr., Wayne Fields, Robert Fields, Reginald Fields (deceased) and Pamela Graham sister-in laws Everlene Fields, Dorothy Fields, and Yvonne Fields, and brother-in-law Robert Graham. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. Visitation at St. John Neumann Church Friday at 10:00 AM and mass at 11:00 AM.
