Edward Leon
Dukes, III
June 8, 1956 – February 19, 2026
Edward Leon Dukes III was born on June 8, 1956, to the late Edward Leon Dukes II and June Gazaway. The fourth of six children, Edward lived a wonderful life. He was a happy and adventurous child.
He attended Taft Elementary School and Hughes High School, graduating in 1974. Edward kept an upbeat attitude and was always very happy about life. The children were close in age and spent a lot of time together growing up, and they remained close throughout the years.
After graduation, Edward enlisted in the Army and served his country. He was stationed in Germany. Upon being honorably discharged, Ed gained employment in the food processing industry. He enjoyed working with the public.
For the rest of his years, he resided in Louisville with his family. For 30 years, he was a good man and father. The style, grace, and love that Edward showed were impressive.
Edward departed this life on February 19, 2026. He was called home to be with the Lord, joining his sister and brother.
Edward will be sorely missed by so many people.
He was preceded in death by his mother, June Wright; his sister, Janyce Harris; and his brother, Donald Gazaway.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two children, Diana Carr and Johnetta Carr; his grandchildren, Timothy Carr, Nicole Carr, Lsmont Carr, Jacari Carr, and Royalty Carr; three sisters, Joy Gazaway, Jennifer Gazaway, and Jacolyn Tuck; and nieces and nephews, Judith Gazaway, Arthur Williams, JoAnna Williams, Thom Harris, Marvin Gazaway, Julius Gazaway, Robert Wright, June Wright, Antwan Oden, Jicole Wright, JoVanna Wright, and LeRon Wright (deceased), along with a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
