IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward C
Deknight
February 19, 1934 – June 16, 2021
Edward Christopher Deknight, 87, of Cincinnati, OH, died Wednesday June 16, 2021. Born in Cincinnati in 1934, Ed established his formative years in Ohio. He also lived in the suburban Chicagoland area, southern Wisconsin, and Florida. In 1999, he returned to the greater Cincinnati area. For many years Ed successfully operated a small business, Knight & Day, as a skilled commercial refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning professional. His talents for working with his hands and overall "handiness" were always appreciated.
Ed enjoyed boating and hosting family gatherings on Lake Redstone in Wisconsin. In later years these gatherings moved to New Richmond. Whether fishing, swimming, or just hanging out on the dock, there were many fond memories of those summers. In his elder years Ed would often dress as Santa Claus for Christmas gatherings to entertain his great grandchildren. His distinguished white beard was his own. He was a proud member of the Army and a Korean War veteran. He wore his Korean veteran hat everywhere he went.
He was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Reid, brothers, Donald Reid and Ronald Deknight and son Daniel Deknight.
He is survived by his children Donna (Zoron) Terzic, Edward (Sharon) Deknight, Gary (Debbie) Deknight, Tom (Sarah) Jagatic, Tiffany (Jonathan) Geisler; daughter-in-law Diane Deknight; grandchildren John (Jean) Wray, Jennifer (Anthony) Gallandez, Edward (Melissa) Deknight III, Rebecca (Antonio) Alvarez, Daniel (Kim) Deknight Jr, Craig Deknight, Nicholas Jagatic, Amelia Jagatic, Gabrielle Jagatic; and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside services will occur on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Cemetery - New, 4500 Foley Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45238. Any flowers may be sent directly to the cemetery.
