Edna Marie Pettis (née Lindsey) was born in Laurel, Mississippi, on January 10, 1944, to the late Louis Lindsey, Sr. and Mirlean Lindsey (née Delaine). She went home to be with Jesus on June 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Edna was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Earl Lindsey and Command Sergeant Major Louis Lindsey, Jr.; two sisters, Erma Pearl Johnson and Ruth Goodwin; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Pettis; and her grandson, Christopher.

Growing up in Laurel, Edna attended Sandy Gavin School, Nora Davis School, and Oak Park High School, where she was often called “Edna Marie Lindsey, the smartest girl in school”.

Edna accepted Christ at an early age and attended Morning Star Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. When she moved to Cincinnati, she became a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Walnut Hills and later became a faithful member of Inspirational Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant and dedicated prayer warrior. She would read and study scriptures daily. She planted seeds of faith in her children and other family members that will continue for a lifetime. She and her husband would often visit the sick and shut-in members of their church family, often taking homemade food and visiting with them to lift their spirits.

Edna dedicated her life to her family and her noble calling as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She created a home that served as the heart of the family, and she welcomed everyone. Once her children were grown, Edna did not slow down – she reinvented herself and got a job at a popular ladies' clothing store, which was a perfect fit since she loved to dress in stylish fashions. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and interior decorating.

Edna was survived by her loving husband, Willie Earl Pettis of 66 ½ years; her daughter, Janet Hill (Wardell); her son, Victor Pettis; eight grandchildren, Alexis, Dominique (Donnell), Monique, Ashlee, Victor, Jr., Julian, Victoria (Roger), and Cierra; four sisters, Margaret Hon, Joyce McSwain, Faye Patterson, and Doris Palmer; two brothers, Bobby Lindsey and Billy Lindsey; one sister-in-law, Lillie Lindsey; 12 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.

She will be laid to rest at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
