IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Earsie Mae
Vinson
August 13, 1945 – May 27, 2021
Earsie Mae Vinson was born on August 13,1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Manuel and Mae Bell Vinson. She departed this life on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Hospice of Cincinnati (Blue Ash).
Earsie attended both Sherman and Hayes Elementary Schools and Porter Junior High School in Cincinnati. Ohio. Earsie was one of nine black students who passed the Walnut Hills High School entrance exam but was not selected to attend the school. At that time (1950's) Walnut Hills would only accept two Black students for enrollment. Earsie was then enrolled and attended the Robert A. Taft High School where she graduated in 1963.
After high school, Earsie attended the University of Cincinnati for three years majoring in Education. Her passion was to become a teacher but in 1966 her mother became ill. Earsie discontinued school to care for her mother and after her mother passed she continued to be the caregiver of the family. When her father fell ill, Earsie took care of him until he passed. She was a totally devoted daughter to her father and showed the same type of commitment and devotion to her two teen-aged brothers. Earsie remained loyal and devoted to her brothers until she passed this life.
At an age when most people are retiring, Earsie went to work at Under The Sea Child Care for a few years. She enjoyed helping the children learn - they held a special place in her heart. Earsie loved traveling and was always "ready to go" prior to her illness. She also loved the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and was always present for their performances. Earsie did not have a driver's license nor did she drive, but she could tell you how to get anywhere in the city with accuracy. Earsie was very well read and knew everything that was going on in and outside of the city. All you had to do was give her a call. Earsie will be surely missed. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of those close to her.
Earsie is survived by her sister, Karen Roberson; brothers, Manuel Emmett Vinson (Dot) and Charles Ray Vinson; nephews, Michael Roberson and Michael Forte; nieces Mary Roberson and Angela Ballew (Jonathan); and many long-time loving and caring friends.
