Obituary

Mr. John Dossie Randle was called to Glory on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at approximately 6:30 am in Cincinnati, Ohio.  His life began August 29, 1927 in Sessums (Starkville), Mississippi, born to the union of the late Dossie Randle and Susie Brooks Chandler.  He was the oldest of "Granny's six children"; 3 preceded him in death, Henry (Dee) Randle, Earl (Eloise) Randle and Irene Taylor who will all welcome him Home with open arms.  Dossie moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1951 after his marriage to the late Channie Mae Gibbs. Dossie was employed as a construction worker & truck driver for Grand Rapids Gravel, and he also worked a short period of time at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital on Boston Street.  He later retired from working in 1989.  Dossie accepted Christ at an early age; he attended various churches in the Grand Rapids area, last membership was with Messiah Missionary Church.

Dossie recently moved to Cincinnati, OH in October to live with his daughter Winona, who cared for him during his allying health.  He found great comfort in reading his bible, watching TV, and having long conversations with (Sis) Aunt Georgia and Weedie (Aunt Eloise) who set many hours aside to listen.  He also enjoyed and scared us all to death riding his scooter out to Meijer's on 28th Street, that he affectionately referred to as his "doon bug". He stated once he and his grandson Christopher, would ride his doon bugs from Grand Rapids back to Cincinnati.

To cherish his memory are nine children from his marriage to the late Channie Mae Gibbs (Randle), he leaves from that union, Dossie Randle Jr.- aka "Sonny" (Linda) Grand Rapids MI, Veola R. Roseman and Winona R. Shaw-Gunn of Cincinnati Ohio; Calvin Randle (Sue) South Bend Indiana; Alvin Randle and Tony Randle, Indianapolis Indiana; David Randle (Leila) Bloomington Indiana; Charles Randle (April) and Michael Randle (Joy) also of Indianapolis, Indiana.   He also leaves children, Jessie Johnson Detroit MI, Victoria Matthews, Kelly Stevenson and Jason of Grand Rapids, MI.  He will be sorely missed by his loving sister, Georgia Burris (Eddie), Lois Bolling (Alfonzo), and a special sister-in-law Geneva Eloise Randle, Grand Rapids MI.  Dossie was blessed to have 30 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a host of cousins throughout Mississippi, Chicago, St. Louis, California, Florida & Texas to name a few. He often asked about and cherished the great relationships with a host of nieces & nephews who lovingly referred to him as "Uncle D & Uncle Doss".

Interment  at Garfield Park Cemetery, 2222 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49507.
