Obituary

Dorothy Marie Mooney was born December 3rd 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Earl and Lorena E. Harney. She was a "mommy's girl", you would often hear her tell stories of the talks and good memories that they shared together. She was the middle child and even early on she showed the signs of an amazing woman who would leave a legacy that will go unmatched. Dorothy attended Douglas High School. She met Loranzo Mooney, the love of her life in 1952 and from the beginning he loved "his Bunch" they later married in October 26th 1953. Dorothy was a constant caregiver to a host of niece and nephews, she was born to be a mother and share her love to any child that came into her presence. Dorothy and Lorenzo were happy to have a large family and loved each child with the same intensity. Their first child was a son, Maurice Mooney, whom was born on October 24th, he was followed by Denise Jackson on November 18th, next was Marlena Mooney whom arrived on March 13, then shortly after Kenneth Wayne Mooney joined the family, April 15th; finally the loved baby boy of the family, Anthony Lamont Mooney (deceased) arrived. Dorothy began working as a childcare provider for Hamilton County in 1977; she spent her days and nights being a support for families across Ohio. Many of those children are here today and can all vividly remember an experience in which "Grandma" influenced their life. She was known as "grandma" to all, her house was filled with child laughter, card games, food, music, and love. Dorothy never turned a child away in fact they eventually became family. She always has leant an ear for someone to talk to, and never judged. She would give her last to anyone. Her kind and loving spirit was felt by all who came into her presence. Her smile would brighten up a room and her cooking was addictive to anyone who had a taste. She was an amazing person and as suggested by one of her adopted grand-children, "even in her death she will still ignite LIFE in so many people." On January 3rd 2014 Dorothy was called home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Loranzo Mooney and Baby boy Anthony Lamont Mooney. She leaves behind Maurice (Michelle) Mooney, Denise Jackson (Kenny), Marlena Mooney, Kenneth Mooney. Grandchildren; Sheryl M Long ("AL"), Keyona Mooney, Kennisha Mooney, Zachary Jackson, Dariane Mooney, Nicci Davenport and Seven Great grandchildren. Siblings; Earlene Simmons, Mary Thurmond, Florence Jean Reese (deceased), and Robert Harney and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
