IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Ann
Huntley
June 3, 1948 – April 11, 2025
I was born to Jerry B. Sr. and Lillian E. White (nee Yarbrough) on June 3, 1948, in Athens, Alabama, and the fourth eldest of ten children.
My elementary education was received in the Athens Public School System. When my family relocated to Ohio, I attended the Cincinnati Public School System at Sawyer Jr. High and later attended and graduated from Taft High School.
I received my certificate in Homemaking with United Home Care for 20-plus years caring for the elderly, which I really enjoyed.
I had many passions, first and foremost, serving God. I was baptized at the Beecher Street Church of Christ under the leadership of Bro. Richard A. Rose, Sr., and until my demise, under the leadership of Bro. Jeremy J. Flowers, Sr., and all who knew me, knew that I took time out of my day, several times a day, to get closer to God by singing his praises, praying, teaching, and reading my scriptures.
I was known to many as the "Hat Lady", and I was very confident in my fashion.
God gifted me the blessing of four beautiful daughters who tried to tell me what to do, but they knew Momma was not having it. Momma still had that look, and they ended up with the same look I had.
My daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of my joy.
My children, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters had the same confidence as I, and I loved my family. I opened my doors for many family gatherings over the years, and I enjoyed cooking for my family and many others.
When I became ill, my daughters became my caregivers. I mean, they were by my side every day; they took very good care of me, and they loved their mother.
The Lord had his plan for me and said, "Daughter, your earthly work is done; I need you here with Me", and I was called home in my sleep to begin my new journey on Friday, April 11, 2025.
Beginning my new journey, I leave to cherish my loving daughters, Marquitta (Reginald, Sr.) Phoenix, Mara Williams, Marlinda (Gregory) Walker, and Marsha Huntley. My wonderful grandchildren, Tierra (Kameron) Tevis, Tiasia Perryman, Amber Huntley, Austin Perryman, Sr., Shaquan Granville, Quanyah Granville Avery Hicks, Khallil Granville, Aveisha Payne, David Thompson, Nassir Ward, Aveahna Walker, Najae Ward and Saryah Mack, and ten wonderful great-grandchildren. Brother and Sisters, Charlie White, Irvin White Sr. (Melissa), Daisy Byrd, Robert White, Sr., and Margie Barnett (Robert Sr.), and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
This journey has me joining my parents, Jerry B. White, Sr. and Lillian E. White; my brothers, Jerry B. White, Jr., Willie White, and Little White; my sister, Peggy Meatchem, and son-in-law, Jimmy Williams.
