Obituary

The curtain rose on September 30, 1952. Some parts of the world were concerned about President Truman's warnings of Cold War dangers, while the rest of the world watched as Elizabeth became Queen of England. However, in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, the big news was that Cleveland Harrison and Lucille Hamilton were overjoyed at the birth of their baby girl, Doris Ann Huckleby.

She was the oldest of ten siblings - Cleo Johnson, Helen Williams (deceased), Jesse James Gregory Jr., Juanita Williams, Hannah Williams, Francis Turner, Robert Lee Williams,

Leatha Gregory (deceased), and Tony Gregory. Doris was the protector of her mom, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an incredibly bright student, having straight A's from Kindergarten to her graduation from Hughes High School.

Doris had an immense love for gardening, bingo, and spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved reading and had a strong connection to Stephen King's literature. She had a passion for dancing and would even enjoy an occasional shot of Tanqueray Gin. Doris came alive when she created moments of nostalgia for her family by showing home videos of her late husband, Clarence Sr., and their kids and grandchildren. She loved to swim, play cards, and watch Matt Dallas and Tyler Perry's plays / movies.

Doris was a beloved cook who made the best potato salad, chocolate birthday cakes, and banana pudding. Her signature brand was preparing potato salad for family functions. Some of her favorite foods were fudge bars, pumpkin pie, Hershey's candy bars, Wendy's triple-decker sandwiches, Coca-Cola, and chocolate milkshakes. She found great pleasure in riding roller coasters, shopping, playing her lottery numbers, taking trips to the Zoo, creating her own Halloween costumes, collecting teddy bears, reading funny Facebook posts, stealing pictures from family members' pages, and watching horror movies (but you better not turn off any lights). LOL. Doris was full of life with a high value for love, family, adventure, and community. She was a loving wife, protector, confidant, friend, excellent mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose presence made the lives of anyone around her better.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Huckleby, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories: her four children - Latonya Huckleby, Latanya Camara, Clarence Huckleby, Jr., and David Huckleby (Fairmeshia); twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "Nanny", and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
