He was affectionately known to his family as Donnie. He transitioned from this life on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 8:20 a.m. At the age of 10 Donovan moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, along with his mother, his brother and his favorite pet, a hamster named Lightning. He made friends easily in his new city. His big smile and genuinely warm personality attracted others to him. His non-conformist, free spirit attitude allowed him to live life to the fullest. For Donovan life didn't have obstacles, only adventures. He always managed to see the positive in everyone and everything. In his early teens he developed a love and a talent for cycling and skateboarding. As his fervor for the sports grew he saw an entrepreneurial opportunity, and created his own company. He began to make, market, and sell his own brand of organic skate wax. This parlayed into opportunities for him as a Promoter – organizing and hosting many events for skateboarders and cyclists throughout Charlotte. Money was never his motivation or objective. Donovan loved bringing people together, being with people he loved, doing the things he loved to do. Making money was just the byproduct of that. Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-Control. Many people refer to these attributes as the "Fruit of the Spirit". Donovan's vast community of family and friends would use any, or all, of these words to describe him. He influenced his friends so greatly that they held a bike rally in his honor after his passing. His light will burn brightly in all of our hearts forever. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Shauna Dionne Presley and Donald Butler; his grandparents, William Butler, Colleen Butler, Diane Butler-Caroll; his siblings Mikalia Butler, DuJuan Butler Robinson and Donald Butler II; his aunts, Chandra Fowler, Keva Presley, Maya Presley and Constance Gilbert; uncles Kenyan Presley and Joe Carroll; his cousins Jacqueline Presley, Jasmyn Presley, Jewel Gilbert, Jamila Gilbert, Antoine Newell, Tevaughn Presley; his Great Aunt and Uncle, Thomas and Vanessa Gilbert; and a host of other relatives and extended family. He is preceded in death by his brother David Evan Presley, his Grandmother Elizabeth Presley-Fields, and his Grandfather Eugene Fields.
