IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Coleman
Lattimore Jr.
February 26, 1938 – August 9, 2025
Donald Coleman Lattimore, Jr. was born on February 26, 1938, in Springfield, Ohio, to Emma Mae Fane and Donald Coleman Lattimore, Sr. He grew up alongside his beloved older brother, Kenwood, and carried forever in his heart the memory of five younger siblings lost tragically in a house fire.
Donald graduated from Taft High School in 1956, as part of its inaugural graduating class. Soon after, he served in the United States Marine Corps with his brother Kenwood. During his service, he discovered a gift for boxing and later became an expert in martial arts, earning a black belt in karate.
On February 5, 1959, Donald married his soulmate, Jessie Mae Mays. Together, they built a beautiful life in Cincinnati, Ohio, raising their four children in a home filled with music, laughter, and love. Donald's talents were endless—he was a skilled artist, barber, and decorator, and he found joy in creating with his hands. Music was his passion, from teaching himself to play the organ and taking piano lessons, to enrolling all of his children in lessons so they could share his love for it. Above all, his greatest talent was singing. His smooth tenor voice touched everyone who heard him sing.
Donald also had a diverse and dedicated work background. Over the years, he worked for the Post Office, spent time as a truck driver, and eventually retired from Kraft. His strong work ethic and adaptability were just as much a part of his legacy as his many creative gifts.
Though Donald was very gentle and soft-spoken, he carried a quiet strength that made him a force to be reckoned with. He loved to travel, cherished time with family and friends, and lived his faith openly. On New Year's Eve in 1975, he joined Golden Leaf Baptist Church, where he became an active and faithful servant. Over the years, he dedicated his time and heart to serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Trustee, member of the Male Chorus, and as part of the Van Ministry. He also spent much of his time volunteering around the church, always willing to lend a helping hand.
On August 9, 2025, after a long battle with illness, the Lord called Donald home. He was reunited in eternal rest with his soulmate, Jessie.
Donald leaves behind a loving family to honor his memory: daughters, Donna (Gregory) Stewart and April Lattimore; sons, Parrish Lattimore, Travis Lattimore, and Demmaris Dunn; grandchildren, Simeon Stewart, Gregory (Ayauna) Stewart II, Taylor Lattimore, and Kamiyah Lattimore; great-grandchildren, Breaysha Helm, Gregory Stewart III, Gevontae Stewart, Gionni Stewart, and Mychael English; brother, Kenwood Lattimore; brother-in-law, Wayne Mays; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Donald will be remembered for his strength, creativity, devotion to his family, and his faith in God. His legacy of love and song will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Golden Leaf Baptist Church, 5910 Argus Road, Cincinnati (45224). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am.
