Donald Butler Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and man of God, was born on April 9, 1938, to Robert and Henrietta Butler.

Donald (known as Ducky) was raised in the Hazelwood community of Blue Ash, Ohio, where he attended and graduated from Sycamore High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a military police officer from June 27, 1956, to June 22, 1959. Donald often enjoyed sharing stories about his time in the military, giving those around him a glimpse into the experiences and memories that meant so much to him. He worked faithfully for the Cincinnati Public School system and retired in 2004.

On December 23, 1961, Donald was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Margaret Gordon. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, faith, and cherished memories. Their union was blessed with four children.

Donald was a devoted man of faith and proudly served as a deacon at Hazelwood Baptist. He served for over fifty years under the direction of five pastors and remained faithful under each pastor. His faith was an important part of his life, and he carried himself with the strength, wisdom, and love of a true man of God.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Henrietta Butler; his siblings, Juanita, Robert, Edward, and Theodore; and his oldest daughter, Anita Marie Willis.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Margaret; his children, Rhonda Faye, Vicki Lynn, and Donald Jr. (Emily); five grandchildren, Jaron (April), Wendell (Brandi) Waters, Dominique (Carley) Parks, Braxton, and Kenadee Butler; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Donald was a wonderful husband, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather. He was a great man whose presence brought love and wisdom to those around him. He had a special love for fishing and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. His stories, laughter, guidance, and the memories he created with his family will forever remain in their hearts.

Donald lived a life devoted to service, faith, family, and love. Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy will continue through the generations he leaves behind.

His family takes comfort in knowing that he has finished his earthly journey and is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of God.

Rest well, Donald. Your love, your stories, and your spirit will live on forever in our hearts.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Hazelwood, 11085 Centennial Drive, Cincinnati (45242-2903). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 10:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

He will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45241.
