Obituary

With heartfelt love and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Doloris Jarvis, who entered into her rest in Jesus on May 10, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born on August 24, 1934, in Parham Town, Antigua, to Edna and Prince Brown, Doloris lived a life marked by faith, resilience, and boundless compassion. After the passing of her husband, Frank Jarvis, in 1988, she migrated to the United States in 1990, where she continued to walk faithfully with the Lord, dedicating her life to love of service and family.

A woman of unwavering faith and quiet strength, Doloris touched the lives of everyone she met. Her days were filled with the joyful sounds of hymns and scriptures—she had a song and a verse for every moment, whether to comfort or to celebrate. Her love for sacred music was a reflection of her deep spiritual life and close relationship with God.

Doloris found beauty in simplicity. An avid gardener, she delighted in nurturing God's creation, and through this, cultivated patience, grace, and growth. A gifted, self-taught seamstress, she lovingly created clothing for her children and blessed many others with her craftsmanship and creativity. Her hands were always at work, and her heart always open.

Her dedication to God's work was unwavering, her faith in Him ever steadfast. In Antigua, she faithfully led branch Sabbath Schools, guiding many souls to Christ. After relocating to the U.S., she remained deeply involved in church ministry, serving as a deaconess and offering her time, wisdom, and love to all. Her commitment to service reflected a life anchored in faith and a desire to share Jesus' love with those around her.

Doloris was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to God, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She prayed for them daily, presenting each of them to God by name in chronological order. She never forgot a single birthday. Every child, even as adults, and grandchild received a birthday card yearly with a monetary gift equal to their age.

In her younger years, she was often found playing games such a cricket in the backyard with her children, filling the home with laughter and joy. Her nurturing presence, wise counsel, and gentle spirit were a source of strength and comfort to her family. She leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, faith, and perseverance. She was preceded in death by beloved sons, Terrence and Keesh Edwards, and her husband, Frank Jarvis.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children and their spouses: Eloise Shepherd (Herbert), Edson Jarvis (Rita), Terry Jarvis, Lionel Jarvis (Cathy), Esther Conner (Jesse), Judith Tony (Julius), and Valerie Edwards-in-law; her grandchildren: Sacha, Anika, Janell, Halichea, Keesh, Kaleb, Scherika, Reschika, Terry, Jeniene, Lionel Jr., Andrew, Holiday, Annaleeza, Tonja, Jessica, Julius II, and Jeremiah; her great-grandchildren: Gianna, Yohan, Keesh, Malik, Amari, Landon, Terry, Adin, Jaylen, Braylin, Azekah, Zariah, Zaiden, Zahara, Zaina, Kyree, Harsyn, Levi, and Ayden, and many siblings, relatives and friends.

Doloris Jarvis's legacy of faith, love, and service will live on through the lives of her family and all who were blessed to know her. We look forward with hope to the glorious resurrection morning, when we will be reunited with her in the presence of our Lord.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
