IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores Marie
Pruitt
August 13, 1942 – November 1, 2025
Dolores Marie Pruitt was born on August 13, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Sarah and Frederick Pruitt. Dolores departed this life on November 1, 2025, at the age of 83.
In her early life, she grew up in the Mt. Auburn and Walnut Hills neighborhoods as part of a large family, which included three brothers and five sisters. She dedicated her life to God as an adolescent and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church. She graduated from Hughes High School at the age of 18.
In her adult life, she worked at Evans Nursing Home, Cincinnati State, and bartended at various locations throughout the city. She had many hobbies, including bingo, playing card games, visiting the casino, sitting on the steps in front of her apartment building, watching soap operas, and talking daily with her mother.
She was a fashionista, a very sharp dresser who loved to wear her high heels. She especially enjoyed football and was the biggest Cincinnati Bengals fan. She was well known for supporting little league players and often attended games—always the loudest cheerer in the stands.
On November 1, 1967, she gave birth to her only child, William (Shawnetta) Pruitt, whom she affectionately called Billy. She shared an unbreakable bond and unconditional love with her son—they were truly two peas in a pod.
She was a loving and devoted grandmother to LaToya (Justice) Dennis, William (Sharneice) Dennis, and Juwan Dennis, as well as a bonus grandmother to Richard, William, Larry (Cilver), Lashawn, Shavon, and Jeffrey Woods.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Kamryn Dennis, LaNiya Dennis, Zi'Onna Dennis, and Kai'Cyn Dennis, along with 18 bonus great-grandchildren.
Dolores was a big sister to Patricia (Jesse) Anderson, Barbara (Leon) Watts, and Juanita (Dwan) Gray. She was also a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Fred Pruitt; her brothers, Fred Jr. (Bernice) Pruitt, Charles (Yvonne) Pruitt, and James (Wakeda) Pruitt; and her sisters, Hattie Pruitt and Gwendolyn (Charles) Harris, along with a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was also a bonus mother figure to Tony Duke and several community children.
