Obituary

Dolores Eleanor Mason Sloan was born on October 12th, 1932 to Booker T. Mason and Mable (Parker) Mason in Cleveland, Ohio. She was called to rest on Friday, July 10th, 2020. There were two children born to this union, Dolores and her sister Doris (Mason) Patterson. They were born just eleven months apart. Dolores always reminded her sister that she was the oldest. Both of her parents preceded her in death.

Dolores accepted Christ as a teenager at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Taylors, SC. She attended Taylors Rosenwald High School in Taylors, SC and graduated from Sterling High School in Greenville, SC on June 1st   1951. In the same month, on June 25th, 1951, she married the love of her life, Willie Henry Sloan. They celebrated 56 years of marriage until his passing on December 24th, 2007. To this union, three sons were conceived, Frederick D. Sloan, Orlando C. Sloan, and Jeffrey W. Sloan. Willie Henry and Dolores moved their family to Cincinnati, OH in the early 1960's.

Dolores loved music and sports. Her grandfather would drop she and her sister off at their piano teacher's house on his way to make milk deliveries to his customers. Dolores aspired to be a musician. She was a member of her high school choir and she was the church musician at St. Matthew. She played basketball when she was in high school as well. She was an avid Bengals fan and would call you to see if you were watching the game.

Dolores worked at Carolina Blouse, prior to moving to Cincinnati, as a production worker, ironing and folding. Her longest tenure of employment was as a Teaching Assistant for the Cincinnati Public School System, predominantly at Withrow High School. All the students knew and loved her. Many of them still greeted her when they saw her years after they had graduated. She also worked with students in the Earn and Learn Program at Taft High School. She always loved working with children and greatly impacted many of their lives.
