Dexter Paul Evans, 49, of Easthampton died Friday, March 11, 2011. He was born to Dorothy B. Evans and the late Frank Evans in Bloomfield Ct. Dexter attended Withrow High School and graduated from Hughes High School. He received his CNA medical certification while attending a technical college in Hartford Ct. Dexter worked as a psychiatric and geriatric nursing assistant and as a union steward at the U S Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Massachusetts. He was a dedicated, persistent, hardworking, well respected young man who truly cared about the well being of his patients and his co-workers both as a VA employee and in the past when he worked private duty. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Northampton, MA and a member of the masons. After high school he joined the Navy where he served as a jet engine mechanic in Meridian, Miss. He also began his study of the marital arts during his time in the service for which he developed a lifelong passion. Dexter played trumpet in his high school marching band and was a member of the Thalians Drama Club at Withrow. In addition to his mother, he is survived by 2 sisters Constance and Francine, 2 nieces, 6 nephews and numerous cousins. Music Prelude .
