Desmond Zachary Dent, the son of Virgil and Lucrecia Dent was born March 26, 1965 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Desmond graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he was a member of the UC Singers for a year and a half. After a trip to Russia, Desmond decided he wanted to perform, be paid , and travel. He was hired by Kings Island where he appeared in many musicals in the theater as well as outdoor performances. Desmond applied and was hired by Soverign of the Seas, his first cruise ship. He later worked for other ships. He traveled thru the Panama Canal, Rome, Turkey, and Costa Rice. While working for one of the cruise ships, Desmond met Mary Wilson of the Supremes and was a background singer for he as well as Ben Vereen. After taking his mom and dad on a cruise, he decided to live on land for a change. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he became background singer for Gladys Knight in the production of Smokey Joe's Cafe. After his contract ended and the illness of his dad, Desmond moved back to Cincinnati. He knew he would have to seek another type of employment and he did. No matter where he was he gave his best. Desmond was always a kind, respect and likeable person. Those that knew him will greatly miss him. He leaves those that grive for him: mother, Lucrecia L. Dent; three uncles, John H. Leonard, Ben E. Bland (Debbie), Russell J. Bland; great-aunt, Willa C. Bradley, cousin, Betty A. Clark, special people, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Tooson, all other family members and an adoptive family, Trudy Glenn and her daughters. He dearly loved his dad, Virgil W. Dent and grandmother, Lora M. Smith (both Deceased).
