Derreck Antonio Coleman was born on January 27, 1973 to Ronald Coleman and and the late Marilyn Hall Coleman in Memphis, Tennessee. He departed this life on Wednesday May 22, 2019.
He was first formally educated in the Memphis City Schools system. He subsequently moved to Long Beach, Mississippi, where he graduated from Long Beach High School. Additionally, he attended the University of West Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a concentration in Management. While attending college, he was a member of the football team and was a resident adviser of a dormitory.
Throughout Derreck's lifetime, he has worked in many fields, including corrections and retail management. Derreck was most recently employed with FedEx Ground as a package handler and switcher.
Derreck was a science fiction enthusiast; he loved Star Wars, as well as Marvel and DC comics. He also loved to exercise, and he made sure to tune in to watch professional football and baseball. Amongst all of his hobbies, he considered his support of his children's scholastic endeavors a top priority. It was not uncommon to see him at his kids' academic team tournaments, numerous sports events, and choir concerts. He also loved his dogs; Athena, Pudding and Ginger. Above all, Derreck was a devoted husband, father, and a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Hall Coleman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tiffany Williamson-Coleman, children: Jasmine Dionna Brooks, Jayden Deshawn Coleman, Jada Dawn Coleman; his father, Ronald Coleman (Lee); stepbrothers: Fredrick Barrett and Corian Barrett; stepsister; Vakeita Barrett; grandmothers Margaret Hall and Fannie Coleman; uncles; Clem Ricky Hall, and aunts; Audrey Lynne Shackleford (Al)l Judith Farmer (David); and Brenda Coleman; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm, on Monday, June 3, 2019, at the New Hope Christian Center, 941 Central Avenue, Newport (41071). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 6:00 pm.
