It is with deep sadness we announce the transition of Dennis  Griffin Jr., age 34, of Cincinnati, OH, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Cincinnati,  Ohio.   He was born on August 21, 1989, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Visitation is from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, on  Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati  (45206).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 pm.

Dennis J. Griffin Jr was born to Dennis Griffin and Mary Barnes on August 21st, 1989, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dennis was the 2nd oldest of 5 boys on his mother's side and the oldest of 4 sons on his father's side. As a child he became affectionately known as DJ. He was a known class clown that liked to make people laugh, enjoyed dancing, was a loyal brother and an overall happy kid.

Although DJ attended Woodward High School, he did not graduate. This did not hinder him in the least. DJ began working at 16 years old and continued to work until his health became a major factor in his life. Dennis valued his independence most of all, which led to him working several jobs. He enjoyed cooking, learning at an early age while watching his Grandma Madge in the kitchen any chance he got; luxury bags, collecting cologne, shopping and going out with his friends and family.

In 2012 DJ met the love of his life, Donnicko Smith. DJ and Donnicko had what you would call a whirlwind romance. Their love was fast, strong and never ending. Like every relationship they had their ups and downs, but they never strayed from each other and were always at each other's sides. After the passing of his brother, DJ and Donnicko became the primary guardians for his nephew Sir'Quis and have raised him as their son ever since. The bonds they created and nurtured helped to cement them as a family like any other and will sorely be missed.

In the early morning of Wednesday June 19th, 2024, DJ lost his battle with heart failure and was called home. Preceding him in death are his Papa William and Grandma Rose, Uncle Joe and Uncle James, his cousin Erica, and his brothers, Anthony (G Money) and William (Ears). It's a party for Hanks in heaven for sure!

DJ leaves behind to mourn his life his ever-loving spouse and son, Donnicko and Sir'Quis. His mother and father, Mary and Dennis. His brothers, A'Marion, Mark, Dekalen, Demarcus, and Damoni. A sister, Marlaina. His mother and father in-law, Tonia and Donnie. His sister in laws, Marquitta (Ears) and Tyeshia. His nieces, Arianna, Tonisha, Tonae, Za'Riyah and Ta'Mylah. His nephews, William III, Marquez, Anthony, Montrece, George Jr, and Antonio Jr. His best friend, confidant and sister in every way but blood, Angella. Uncles Ricky, Leo, Cannon, and Tony. And a host of cousins and friends with a special mention to Tia. His favorite cousin who he always held close to his heart.
