Denise Newell, affectionately known as "Ms. Nise," was born on September 4, 1958, at Booth Hospital in Covington, Kentucky, to the late Melvin and J.L. Cowart. She departed this life on July 25, 2025.

Denise was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry B. Newell; her parents; siblings Patricia, John, Anthony, and Timothy Cowart; and her bonus brother, Jason Arrington.

Denise attended Lincoln Grant High School and worked as a nurse's aide. She had a passion for playing spades and chewing bubble gum. Known as "Ms. Fix It," she taught her family how to patch up just about anything. Denise cherished her family and friends and was known for her contagious laugh, which will always be remembered. She crocheted a variety of items, from covers to socks; her warmth was woven into everything she touched. Those gifts now serve as comforting reminders of her love and legacy.

Denise leaves behind a rich legacy, including her children: Chanisea Payne (James Payne, Sr.), Chalisa Cowart (Derrick Yeboah), and Arthur B. Cowart, Sr. (Heaven Morgan); her grandchildren: Shakeyia Vance, Zamieah Harris (Desmond Payne, Sr.), Zonyae Harris, Keyiontae Cowart, Ajanae Cowart, James Payne, Jr., Arthur B. Jr., Charles Harris, Jr., Brazil Cowart, Comaega Yeboah, Sincere Cowart, Hendrix Morgan, Sosa Cowart, Chelsea Evans, and Keshon Banks; her siblings: Marvar Cowart, Angela Nelson, Minerva Cowart, Sherry Cowart, Ricky Cowart, and Billy Cowart; as well as her bonus siblings: Teresa Arrington, James Arrington, and Veronica Arrington. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and a host of other beloved family members and friends.

Denise was a light in our lives. Her memory will live on through the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the laughter she shared. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation is from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm, on  Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Walker Funeral Home - Northern Kentucky, 1129 Garrard Street, Covington, Kentucky  (41011).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12:30 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.

Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery,  2167 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky 41017.
