Delois Anderson was a woman whose life was defined by faith, love, family, strength, and perseverance. Born on November 15, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Lawyer and Alberta North, Delois was the daughter of a loving family and one of nine children. She grew up in Lockland before moving with her parents and siblings to Walnut Hills.

Delois was blessed to experience a love story that would become one of the most beautiful chapters of her life. In July 1958, she met Frederick L. Anderson. During her senior year of high school, Delois was a dedicated student while also working in the X-ray Department at General Hospital.

On November 13, 1959, Delois and Fred were united in marriage. Their young marriage was soon tested by circumstances that required tremendous strength and patience. In January 1960, Delois was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was admitted to Durham Hospital, where she remained for a year of treatment. Their reunion marked the beginning of a life together filled with love, faith, family, and countless memories. They built a family together with the birth of their five children.

Delois was also a hardworking woman who took great pride in providing for and caring for her family. Once her children began attending school, she returned to the workforce beginning a long career in retail. She worked at Sears, Roebuck & Co. on Reading Road until the store closed in 1980. She then worked at F.W. Woolworth downtown until 1988 before transferring to the Woolworth store in Hyde Park. She remained there until the store closed in 1997, retiring that same year so she could devote more time to the people she loved most—her family.

Delois found happiness in the simple pleasures of life; reading. Her sisters fondly remembered that she would read the dictionary and encyclopedia. If someone asked her how to spell a word, she might pause and say, “um,” before confidently giving them the answer.

She enjoyed watching old movies and her favorite television shows, including __The Golden Girls__, __The Jeffersons__, and __Law & Order__. She enjoyed receiving mail from charitable organizations and her kindness was expressed in many quiet ways, and she gave freely from her heart.

Above all, Delois was a woman of faith. In the 1980s, the family joined St. Stephen’s Church and became involved in the choir and participated in church programs, including Easter and Christmas celebrations. Delois carried her faith with her throughout her life. She could often be found sitting quietly at the kitchen table with her Bible and __Our Daily Bread__ booklet taking notes and reflecting on God's Word.

Delois especially treasured her role as a mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. Their visits brought her happiness, laughter, and moments she held dear.

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, Delois peacefully ascended home at the age of 88. She leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply by the years she lived, but by the love she gave, the family she nurtured, the faith she carried, and the lives she touched.

Delois was preceded in death by her parents: Alberta and Lawyer North; her beloved husband Frederick L. Anderson and her older brothers, Robert North and Lawyer North.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children, Keith Allen Anderson; Mark (Laverne) Anderson; Verneida (Harold) Shannon; Grace Anderson; and Alvenia Ross. She is also survived by her two sisters, four brothers and two sister-in-laws. She also leaves to cherish nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 10:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.

She will be laid to rest at Walnut Hills Cemetery, 3117 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.
