TO VIEW/PRINT/DOWNLOAD THE FUNERAL PROGRAM https://www.scribd.com/doc/248364048/David-Charles-Smith DAVID CHARLES SMITH 1945-2014 David Charles Smith "DC" was born to the late Samuel and Ida Smith on June 9, 1945 in Cincinnati Ohio, and was called home on November 17, 2014 after a brief illness. The love of God, family and the importance of hard work was, instilled in David as a child. David accepted Christ at an early age and joined the First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills. He later became a Deacon at Promise Land Baptist Church and a dedicated member of New Bethel Baptist Church until his death. David was educated by the Ohio Public School system and is a graduate of Hughes High School class of 1963. Upon Completion of High School David went on to enlist in the United States Army. He married Patricia A. Malone and to this union was born two children Aaron and Shawna Smith. After 4 years in the Army David was honorably discharged and decided to relocate to Washington DC. Following, his tour of service, David briefly worked for the Metropolitan Transit Department. He later joined the Metropolitan Police Department. David met and married Phyllis E. Powell and to this union was born two daughters Denise and Marcia Smith. David faithfully, served on the Police Department in which he earned the rank of Detective , for over 17 years until his retirement. Anyone who knew David will remember him for his wit, kind heart, love of pictures, sharp dressing and Devotion to family. David could tell a story and light up the room with his sense of humor! David once described his greatest accomplishment as being a " Father" and how much he loved his Children and grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory five devoted children 1 son Aaron D. Smith (Tonia), 4 daughter's Shawna McNeil (Richard), LaJuan Brown, Denise Thomas and Marcia DeVille (Jason). Six grandchildren, Ashley McNeil, Tierra Thomas, Cam'ron Smith, Jordyn DeVille, Isaiah Thomas, Jadyn DeVille, and one devoted sister Marcia Smith Van (Willie), Cincinnati Ohio. David was preceded in death by sister Minnie Todd. He also leaves to cherish his memory three devoted friends Curtis Calhoun, Clem Williams, Cincinnati, Ohio and Bobby Mason, Washington DC a host of nieces, cousin and friends. He will be missed. Homegoing services for David will be held on Wednesday, November 26th at Walker Funeral Home, 1025 E. McMillan St. in Cincinnati, OH.
