David Billups, Sr., 73 born in Columbus, MS on July 26, 1941 to the late Willie Billups, Sr. and Sara Moore-Billups passed away at his home in Springfield Township, Ohio on Monday, June 22, 2015. David moved to Cincinnati with his family when he was young. During his time here, David worked as an auto worker at Ford Motors Company for over 13 years but retired as a Facilities Manager at the University of Cincinnati after 31 years, with that job, it afforded his children the opportunity of a tuition free education. David struggled with health issues for much of the last 25 years but like most Billups' he was stubborn and determined to do things his way. David was a simple man whom enjoyed simple things in life. Many will remember him as a motorcycle driving, pipe smoking son of a gun but he truly enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, "fixing thing around the house, working on cars, and listening to Mississippi blues music. David leaves to celebrate his life his beautiful wife of 36 years, Vickie; sons, Stephen ( Tiffany) and Solomon; daughters, Mishelle, Rolanda, Sharona (Darrius) and Sonya (Justin) along with 8 grandchildren, Kiantha, Morgan, Jalen, Serenity, Jeremiah, Jamari, Jameer, and Honesty and 1 great-grandson, Joshua. He also left to cherish his memory his brother, Thomas (Barbara); sisters, Betty Jean, Shirley and Paula along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons, David Jr. and Shannon as well as his older brother, Willie Jr. David's quiet presence will be greatly missed by all those love him MAY HE REST IN PERFECT PEACE! Visitation is from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Walker - Mt. Healthy Chapel , 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Cincinnati (45231).
