Darlene Ethel Smith (Neal-Brantley) was born October 16, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of the late James Hook and Betty Lou McGuire (nee Neal). Darlene was called home May 13, 2005 and her great-aunt Rosetta Long preceded her in death. Darlene was the only child. She was reared by her great-aunt, Sister (Addy) Nelson. Darlene attended Taft High School. She was baptized by the late Bishop Jasper J. Phillips at Zion Temple First Pentecostal Church. In 2001 she became a member of Rhema Word Church of God of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Pastor Shanda L. Luther. Darlene lived at the Serenity House under the Personal care of John Stewart and Elaine Rowland along with her friends and roommates. She worked in the cafeteria at the GBC Agency under the supervision of Ms. Gwen White. Darlene was married to Leroy Smith on January 4, 2004 where they lived on Linn Street. Darlene Ethel Smith leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Leroy Smith; son, Tommy Neal; Aunt, Phebe Hunter, Mattie Anderson; uncle, Charles Neal; loving niece, Pastor Shanda L. Luther and family; sister-in-law, Louise Ford; Serenity House Family, John Stewart and Elaine Rowland; family friend, John Larry Long better known as :Champ" of Detroit, Michigan; and the Rhema Word Church of God and family, a host of other relatives and friends.
