Daniel Caldwell was born in Greensburg, Kentucky, on January 2, 1933 to the late Tommy and Susie Kate Smith Caldwell. He departed this life for eternal rest on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 7:00 a.m. at home. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended church meetings with his Dad. He attended the Cedartop School in Green County, Kentucky and moved to Cincinnati, OH in the 1940's. Daniel served his country in the armed forces as a paratrooper, gunner, and a truck driver for the motor pool. He earned several medals including a National Defense Service Medal. He received an honorable discharge in 1955 from the United States Army after two years of service during the Korean War. Daniel and Lessie's marriage was blessed with five children. He supported his family as a business owner of the Quality Upholstering Shop for more than 40 years. He shared his trade and trained many neighborhood youth the skill of upholstery. He also loved to travel and fish and was often seen feeding the birds. He leaves to mourn his departure, but celebrate his life: loving wife, Lessie Mae Caldwell; children, Orlando Hogan of Camarillo, California; Dale (Brenda); Gwenette (William) Pennington; Gregory, and Diane (Daryl) Lewis all of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, George (Catherine) Caldwell of Columbia, Kentucky; ten grandchildren, Kelli, Rashawn, Shereia, Tamika, Roland, Jeremy, Gregory, Danielle, Cherita, and Daryl; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Susie Kate Smith Caldwell; five brothers, James, Tom Willie, Alfonzo, Ivan and Paul Allen; and three sisters, Mary Katherine, Captolia Johnson and Alice Caldwell Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Walker-Walnut Hills Chapel ,1025 E.
