Dana Chyleen Satterfield Birth: Nov. 16, 1967 Death: Jul. 31, 1995 Roebuck Spartanburg County South Carolina, USA Burial: Heritage Memorial Gardens Roebuck Spartanburg County South Carolina, USA On July 31, 1995, at around 6:30 PM, 27-year-old beauty salon owner Dana Satterfield bought a bottle of cleaning fluid from a door-to-door saleswoman named Shirley, and about an hour later, she arrived back at Dana's salon and saw her cleaning up, and Shirley went to two other stores. At 8:30pm, she returned to wait for her ride home when she heard strange noises coming from inside. She then saw the lights turn out, and finally heard a very loud sound and she then saw a man jump out of one of the windows and ran for a liquor store to call the police. She ran into the man, and then ran toward the street to get a motorist to call the police. A deputy sheriff arrived and found Dana's beaten, raped, and strangled body in the closet. Authorities believe that the man was a predator, a possible serial killer who may have stalked her. Another witness, Ken Smith, later came forward and reported that as he was driving by at the time of the murder, he saw a man nearby standing next to his car that he believed was the killer. Despite the witnesses, no one was ever arrested in her murder. A $50,000 reward was being offered for information in the case.
