Cynthia Hayes Reid was born on June 15, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Cowan Edward and Sadie Mae Mitchell, both of whom preceded her in death.

She departed this life on December 14, 2018 after a lengthy battle with diabetes.

Cynthia was the eldest of seven children born to Cowan and Sadie: Renee, Tommy Lee who also preceded her in death, Anthony, Russell, Nolan and Zachery.  Cynthia loved her siblings. She stated "she could talk about them, but you can't".  Cynthia had one daughter, LaQueena Mitchell.

Cynthia was baptized at an early age at Revelation Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Cynthia was very involved in church most of her life.  She  was an avid Bible reader and dedicated to her church.  She loved the Lord with all of her heart and would quote scriptures like no one else.

Cynthia graduated from Hughes High School, class of 1968, with athletic, artistic and creative abilities.  She attended Central State University where she studied graphic and liberal arts.  She graduated with an Associate's Degree in Art Education.  She also studied at the Art Institute of Ohio-Cincinnati.  Throughout her life she lived in Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio.

Cynthia was married to Eric William Reid in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Cynthia sang with various groups in the Cincinnati area.  She was also very active in the arts community performing in local plays.  SHe was an avid golfer and tennis player.  Her grandfather, I.E. Hayes, started one of the first black golfers association in Cincinnati, Ohio where Cynthia won several trophies.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, LaQueena Mitchell; four brothers, Russell, Anthony, Nolan (Pamela) and Zachery (Deborah); one sister, Renee (James) Mitchell-Taylor, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
