Obituary

Mrs. Cynthia Rene’ Wilder Pettis, daughter of the late , Earl Arthur Wilder and Clara Virginia Wilder was born May 23, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio shortly after her parents move from Memphis, Tennessee. Cynthia was the fifth of seven children. As a child, Cynthia enjoyed singing, music and even played piano. One of her favorite hobbies as a child was playing jacks and teaching others how to play. Cynthia also was the baby girl out of all her siblings and was definitely a daddy’s girl. Known as “Butter” as kid. Cynthia was described as a sweetheart and her love for cooking began at a young age. Cynthia also would enjoy going with her siblings along with her father to help assist with his cleaning business cleaning the post offices around the city of Cincinnati. Cynthia attended Cincinnati Public schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 1981. Shortly after high school Cynthia attended Southern Ohio College and then enlisted into the Army in 1982. In 1983 Cynthia gave birth to her first son the late Christopher Norman Larkins & in 1985 gave birth to her first daughter Cierra Ridley. Cynthia received an honorable discharge from the military in 1988. Soon after Cynthia went to work for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and would later retire after her service of 30 years.

In 1993 she met her now husband Victor Pettis, which sparked a long journey of true love & commitment. In 1994 she gave birth to her second son Julian Pettis. And in 1995, Cynthia and Victor joined together in matrimony, marrying July 22, 1995 and giving birth to her last child Victoria Renee Pettis.

One of Cynthia’s favorite things to do along with her Husband was to entertain and cook for her family each holiday and each birthday. Not a birthday or holiday went by without Cynthia’s good soulful cooking. Cynthia loved to share her beautiful spirit with everyone around her not ever forgetting a soul when holidays came around she always ensured she obliged and took care of everyone.

Cynthia shared a union with her Husband Vic for over 30 years, celebrating recently their 30th wedding anniversary Cynthia and Victors union was a beautiful experience for all. Always philanthropic and giving, many parties & celebrations they always entertained everyone together. Together Cynthia and Victor brought so much joy to those around them.

Cynthia most of all loved to spend time with her children taking them on vacations and site seeing every chance she could get. One of her favorite things to do was to visit family in Memphis Tennessee.

Cynthia loved shopping sprees and had a love for music. Cynthia loved singing, and one of her favorite artists was Adele.

Cynthia and her Husband Victor enjoyed many trips to the malls and more. She also had a love for chicken! She never made it a secret how much she loved chicken. She loved interior decorating her home and also gardening in her beautiful garden that consisted of beautiful flowers and vegetables. Most of all Cynthia loved her grandchildren. Cynthia always highlighted her love for her grandchildren and spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. She always spoiled them with so much love and would always provide them with such a good time and lovable memories.

Cynthia also loves her nieces and nephews dearly. Everyone in our family meant so much to her and she spent her life dedicated to keeping our family together as a unit and making everyone feel loved and happy.

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children. She was preceded in death by her son Christopher, her sister Deborah Wilder Ferguson, Brothers William and Wayne Wilder and Norman Larkins. She leaves behind her husband Victor Pettis, daughters Victoria Rene Davis, Cierra “Ladybug” Rose , and Julian Pettis. Son in law, Roger Davis, and Sister in law Janet Pettis. Her dear siblings, Sister Patricia Wilder, Brother Kenneth Wilder.

She also leaves behind her dear Grandchildren, Makylah Taylor, Nariah Taylor, Antonio Spiller Jr, Zachariah Davis, Arie Henry, Abigail Phillips, Avery Johnson & King Jackson and a host of cousins, nieces, & nephews.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 3:00 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
