Obituary

Crenisha K. Godfrey was born on April 5, 1979, in Cincinnati, Ohio. On the eve of Sunday, February 14th 2016, Crenisha was called home by her Heavenly Father. She was a faithful member from the time she was baptized in 2007 at New Community Bible Fellowship under the Pastorate of Kevin E. James Sr., in Cleveland, Ohio. Crenisha, (affectionately known as "Nish") was born to Mattie Godfrey and Darnell Carson in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the second eldest of four daughters and described, by herself and others as "eclectic." Her free spirit and diverse range of interest led her into ballet, modeling and creative writing at the School of Performing Arts. She was a member of the Soaring Falcons for earning all A and B's, perfect attendance and outstanding citizenship and the Mayerson Award for High School Community Volunteers. Nish graduated from Robert A. Taft High School in 1997; attended Cleveland State University to study Broadcasting. In 2007, she graduated with honors from Kaplan University with an Associate of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. Various health issues did not remove the smile from her face; the jokes and laughter never subsided. She had a special love for food, improptu karaoke and loved to shop. She never lost faith in God or mankind. She was a living testament of her favorite scripture, "And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind, and thy neighbor as thyself." St. Luke 10:27 She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving parents Mattie Godfrey and Darnell Carson (Lisa), grandmother Addie Godfrey, three sisters, Nicole Godfrey, Darnetta Carson and Shante Carson; niece Ianna Tyus, nephews Sean Tyus Jr., Isaiah Tyus, Jarel Wilson and Canaan Carson and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Remember Me in Crenisha's own words: "Goodnight Lord, Just want to say thank you for waking me up this morning to see another beautiful day. I come to you for knowledge and wisdom. I want to obtain the courage to serve you and lay down my life for you. Use me as you want to and thank you for dying for me and my loved ones. My life and body is yours' Thank you, Your daughter, 3.19.2014" Special Thanks to Crenisha's precious friends and helpers: Ms. Willa Greathouse, LaShunda McClain and her Cleveland Church family.
