Obituary

Cora Elizabeth Thomas was born on June 9, 1940 to the late Will O. Watkins Sr. and Christine(Bure) Watkins. Cora was raised in Cumminsville, the second of ten children, in which four siblings, James Turner, Roy Lee Turner, Ronald Watkins and Richard Watkins, all preceded her in death. In 1984, Cora and her family joined Rescue Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder Malachi C. Johnson Jr. There she served faithfully on the Usher Board and in the Women's Department. Cora graduated from Sherman High School in 1958. She was married to Eddie Thomas and traveled the world with him while he served in the Armed Forces. She worked various jobs, but had to stop working early in life because her job was to take care of her son,Quinn Cora was a single mother of twin boys, Quincy and Quinn, whom she loved dearly. She devoted her life to being the sole caretaker for Quinn after his first stroke at age ten. As far as she was concerned, her greatest achievement was caring for Quinn. Cora loved to cook and had a seven up cake that was out of this world. She would not share that recipe with anyone so that cake is gone forever. Our sister was steadfast, tenacious and driven by her faith in God. God blessed her for that. She left us with peace in her heart because she left everything up to him. His will was done. On April 21, 2015, Cora was called to rest. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Quinn and Quincy, five siblings, Barbara Thomas, (Willam) Will Watkins Sr.(Yvonne)Patsy Ervin (John Jr.), Michael Watkins, and Benjamin Watkins (Inita); five grandchildren, Quincy Jr., Mone'zia Ziar, Derion Keontay, Kumorei Destinee and Quinn Lamerio; a very special niece, Antoinette Lee, her lifelong dear friend Patricia Washington and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
