Obituary

Connie Bernice Brown was born January 2, 1942 to the union of the late George B. Jefferson and Cleo Francis Jackson in Cincinnati, Ohio. She departed this earthly life on October 15, 2015 and was proceeded in death by both of her parents; a brother; Joe Bryant and a sister; Georgetta Brown. Connie was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System. She attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated from the Nursing School at the College of Mt. Saint Joseph. After college she went on to work for the City of Cincinnati Health Department and the Cincinnati School System at schools such as Hughes High School, Pleasant Hill Elementary and Aiken High School. Connie was united in marriage to Lee H. Brown Sr. and they raised three children, Riccardo, Lee Jr. and Clifford. Connie accepted Christ at an early age and instilled her spiritual values in her children. She was baptized at First New Shiloh Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. Michael J. Mangham and later Rev. Michael Cash. In March of 1993 she joined and became a faithful member of Golden Leaf Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Carl Adkins. She was very active and diligent worker on the Plant and Shut-In Committees until her health prevented her from continuing her services. Connie enjoyed music, theater, mental stimulation via game shows like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune or cross word puzzles as well as traveling and spending time with family. She possessed a care free attitude, an engaging personality, a sweet and loving disposition and a sweet spirit so much so that she never met any strangers. To expand and embrace her musical roots, Connie turned her passion into working several DJ Slots at several Radio Stations that included WCIN, WEBN, WDAO and WAIF, hosting a Jazz Show. She also loved sports, traveling and community events. She attended as many Cincinnati Reds and Bengals games as she could and traveled both domestic and internationally, with a special connection with many friends from The Bahamas. She leaves to cherish her memory: Riccardo Brown (Cincinnati, OH), Lee Brown Jr., (Cincinnati, OH) Clifford and (Barbara) Brown (Atlanta, Georgia); two sisters, Angela (Leon) Wallace (Cincinnati, OH), and Audrey Jefferson (Indianapolis, IN); two grandchildren, Demarco Brown and Alexis Brown, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
