Obituary

Clyde Lee Beard Jr., fondly known as "Buster," was born on July 18, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Clyde Lee Beard Sr. and Margaret Jean Beard. He departed this life on April 27, 2025, at the age of 66.

Clyde accepted Christ at an early age at Rockdale Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Wallace Peoples. As a child, he sang in the children's and youth choirs. As he grew in the Word of God, he served faithfully in various church ministries, including the finance committee, the missionary board, and as a deacon. He was also the leader of the Young Davids and a dedicated Sunday School teacher. Clyde diligently served his entire family in word, thought, and deed, like the Word of God teaches.

Clyde met the love of his life, Patricia, in 1994 at church. They were united in marriage in 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School system and graduated from Withrow High School in 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University in 1980. In 2002, he received certifications from the Ohio Division of Real Estate in Real Estate Appraisal, Finance, Law, and Principles and Practices.

Clyde held various jobs throughout his adult life, but his favorite was working at the Horseshoe Casino (later Jack's Casino, now Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati) for 12 years. He was a professional poker and blackjack dealer who loved his work. Guests would often wait just to play at his table—not only for the game but also for the conversation and laughter he brought. He was well-loved by both co-workers and customers. Clyde also served as a Union Board Committee Member and Representative, with a strong knowledge of the union handbook. He took great pride in advocating for his fellow employees.

Clyde was also a dedicated entrepreneur, running two of his own businesses—B & S Home Improvement of Cincinnati and a lawn and landscaping company. He took great pride in his work and was known for his meticulous attention to detail

Clyde loved traveling and making friends along the way, many of whom remained close throughout his life. He enjoyed attending concerts, especially jazz, and was an avid sports fan, particularly of basketball, football, and boxing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Beard, Sr.

Clyde leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 10½ years, Patricia Beard; his children: Candace Beard, Cedric Beard, J'nessia Tubbs (Brian), Lewis Bryant, Courtney Beard, and Charon Beard; stepchildren: Melisha Wade and Jibril Thomas. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Beard; his brother, Andre Beard; his sister, Patricia Mincey; as well as sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He had a special bond with his aunt Pearline Thomas and uncle Lee Anthony, and was especially close to his cousins Pearletha Standley, Robin Jones, and Lee Corgwell. Clyde leaves behind a host of other family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
