STALLWORTH, Climie, age 101, entered eternal rest, Jan.12, 2011. Climie was born July 4, 1909 in Beatrice, Alabama to John and Allie Stallworth. He joined the International Union of American Laborers Local 265 in 1938 and was the oldest living member of the union; also known as "Slim"; and a member of the Mason. Climie was one of the first African American hired at Shilottos Department Store working in the maintenance carpentry department until he retired after 29 years of service. Climie joined Jerriell Baptist Chruch in the West End in 1942. Survived by four daughters, Dorothy Hampton, Eartha Hill, Cora Shepherd, Murleen Stallworth and son, Taft Stallworth, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 22 great-great grandchildren, 7 great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation 10:00 a.m., Sat., Jan. 22, 2011 at Jerriell Baptist Church, 1018 Wesley Avenue (45203) with 11:00 a.m. service. Interment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery.
