IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence Upshaw,
Jr.
April 15, 1965 – February 20, 2024
Clarence Upshaw, Jr. was born on April 15, 1965, to the late Clarence, Sr. and Naomi Upshaw. He entered Glory on February 20, 2024.
Clarence was raised in the Mt. Healthy Public School System. Besides his academics, he was involved with football, wrestling, and the track team. That is also where he met his life-long love, Verily Smith, and married her on October 7, 1988. They had three children: Christopher Edward, Johnathon Clarence, and Keisha Marie.
Clarence never felt as if he was the smartest one in the room, yet he was always the teacher. Showing his kids how to use their hands, body, and minds to make sure they could take care of themselves. He loved playing and teaching the grandkids how to use tools at an early age. If he did not know the answer, he knew the right person to ask. Clarence made friends everywhere he went and knew everyone, even if he didn't know you, he made you feel as if he did and were friends forever.
Clarence loved the outside. He did not care what he was doing, as long as it was outside. Whether he was working on a car, cutting grass, planting a garden, playing with his dog, or playing with his grandkids all of whom he cherished with all his heart.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents: Naomi and Clarence Upshaw, Sr. He leaves to mourn his wife, Verily; three children: Christopher (Ashley D'Andrea), Johnathon, and Keisha; four grandchildren: Amore', Christopher, Jr., Hunter, and Madison; two adopted grandchildren: Jai'Vion Evans and My'Asia Hollyfield; four sisters: Barbara Jean Arnold, Brenda Upshaw, Lisa Cruse (William), and Michelle Upshaw; his niece, Yvette Christopher (Tony) whom grew up with Clarence and was like another sister; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on March 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Bethel No. 2 Apostolic Church, 2319 Quebec Road, Cincinnati, Ohio (45214)
