Obituary

Clarence Eugene Mitchell Sr. March 8, 1945 - March 21, 2023

Clarence Eugene Mitchell, the son of Itelia Mitchell, was born in Miami, FL on March 8, 1945 and made his earthly departure on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in Cincinnati, OH. He graduated from Miami Northwestern High School in 1962 and entered college at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA then in 1965, transferred to Xavier University, where he was the drum major in the band and was a pre-med student. He started his career at Proctor and Gamble as a chemist, then worked at New York Life Insurance, and finally found his passion for Real Estate, which he continued until he transitioned.

Clarence was committed to the Cincinnati community where he earned his nickname, "Coach." He spent many years coaching youth baseball throughout Cincinnati. He was the coach of the Cincinnati Flames who won four National Championships under his leadership and a basketball coach at the Jewish Community Center. He had been an active member, recruiter, and advocate of Toastmasters for many years. "Coach" Mitchell consistently declared his love for Jesus and shared the gospel to all he encountered. He was a dedicated member of Tri-County Assembly of God, then College Hill Presbyterian Church. Clarence "Coach" Mitchell is survived by seven children, Clarence Mitchell, Jr. (Allana); Chris Mitchell; Leslie Glosby; Mary Mitchell; Tressa Pope (Brent), John Pope (Amy); and Joshua Mitchell and six grandchildren. His daughter, Margaret Irene Pope, precedes him in death. His remaining extended family, friends, baseball community, and church members will cherish his memories.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
