IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence
Mason
December 31, 1948 – May 19, 2025
Clarence was born on December 31, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Johnnie and Dessie Mason. He went to Douglas Elementary and graduated from Courter Tech High School.
Clarence had various occupations: he was a laborer, maintenance man, janitor, and mechanic. Clarence was employed at Saw Brooks Steel in the early 70's. He was a jack of all trades, but was a musician at heart.
Clarence was a self-taught guitarist but learned a lot about playing the guitar from Albert Washington. He played at many nightclubs: The Vets Inn, The Wine Bar, Soul Lounge, Babe Baker's, The Viking Lounge, and Clock Lounge.
He was a member of the MD Fire Department Band from 1971 to 1973. He played guitar with Bootsy Collins and knew the late Roger Troutman in the early stages of his career. He played with many well-known artists in the greater Cincinnati area. In addition to being a musician, he will also be remembered for his sense of humor and charming personality.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Dessie Mason; his siblings, John Mason Jr., Rose Pickett, Lethia Randolph, Ruby Moore, Henry Mason, Bobby Mason; his wife, Deborah Mason; and his son, Clarence C Mason.
Clarence leaves his memories to be cherished by his daughters; Yolanda Mason, Elaine Younger, Ella Younger and Nikki Younger, and their mother, Terri Younger, 8 grandchildren (2 deceased), 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
