Obituary

Christopher  Gay-Bradley June 1, 1963 - November 1, 2023

Christopher Gay-Bradley, 60, was a passionate, spiritual, loving, loyal and fiercely protective man who died much too soon at Good Samaritan Hospital the morning of November 1st, 2023. He was born in Cincinnati at Jewish Hospital June 1st, 1963 and was one of 6 children to his parents Gloria and Curtis.

He spent his formative years in Cincinnati and graduated from Purcell Marion High School in 1981. After high school he enlisted in the National Guard where he served starting in 1981 until he was honorably discharged in 1986. He enrolled during this time at Antonelli College and the University of Cincinnati where he pursued his AA degree focusing on Fine Arts and Fashion which was one of his many gifts.

Christopher expanded his wings in the mid-1990's when he moved to New York City and lived in the East Village and worked as a florist, ultimately becoming Employee of the Year.He returned to Cincinnati and that is when his confidante and oldest sister Regina was tragically killed in an auto accident. This was the first in a series of deaths that included his mother, Gloria Hernton, his sister Ann Gay, and youngest sister Tracy Tweet which greatly impacted his life. His brother Hayward and his father Curtis also recently passed. Only sister Jennifer remains from the immediate family.

Despite these losses sprinkled throughout his life, Christopher was known for his gregarious laugh and kind-hearted and photogenic smile. He also was never afraid to share his opinions and strongly advocated both personally and professionally for what he felt was right and advocated for inclusivity and equality. In November of 1998 he met Neil Bradley and they entered into what would become a quarter century relationship until Christopher's death. They bought a home in East Walnut Hills in 2005 and created a meaningful and loving life together. When it became legal to do so, their marriage in May 2019 was a defining point in their lives.

On his side of the family he had cousins and aunts he kept in contact through the years and enjoyed a loving relationship with his maternal grandparents Isabella and Hayward Camper until their passing. He held niece Tessa, her father Jonathan and nephew Micah close to his heart. He also enjoyed a loving relationship with his niece Sarah, sister and brother-in-law Kelli and Steve Wisemore, mother-in-law Deloris and Aunt Luwanna on his husbands side of the family.

Christopher loved the arts and music and owned every piece of music and memorabilia from Prince that he could acquire. He loved comic books which he collected and all things related to super heroes, which also ran in the family. He was an enthusiastic fan of movies and was known to go to the theater many times over to see films that made an impact on him. He loved to cook and was a foodie at heart. He enjoyed gardening like his mother, and loved to travel. His favorite destinations included Key West, Florida and Paris, France where he and Neil celebrated the 20th anniversary of their relationship. During his life, the bulk of his employment focused on customer service management with his final position being at Delta Airlines in their Elite Sales and Service division. During the last years of his life, Christopher was also in the process of attaining his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration through the University of Southern New Hampshire which was an experience he whole-heartedly enjoyed and excelled in.

Christopher always wanted to do the right thing and to live a life of meaning. In the end, although he had much much more to offer, he achieved that goal. After all, his was a life that was without a doubt, important.

The family will observe private services.
