Charles E. Stokes was born on January 23, 1947 to the late Marguerite Stokes and George Blackwell in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was mostly raised by his aunt Ethel Powell. Charles attended Cincinnati Public Schools, where he played football and baseball. Charles was baptized at an early age and was a member of Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church. Charles resided at the Golden Gates Nursing Facility for 12 years where he met many friends. He resided there until his health failed him on October 13, 2014. He is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Edward C. Moore and his brother, Freddie Stokes. Those left to cherish his memories: are two brothers, Kenneth (Rose) Blackwell and Carl Blackwell; six nieces, seven nephews, 20 great nieces, 16 great-nephews, a host of cousins, other family and friends.
