Charles John Brooks, age 80, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015, in Fairfield, Ohio. He was born January 6, 1935 in Kane, Pennsylvania. Charles transitioned peacefully from this life the morning of August 7, 2015 after a gradual decline in health. He was cared for and supported by his loving family during the last days of his life. Charles was born in Kane, PA. to Eldon and Ruby Brooks. He was one of four loving brothers. In 1942, the Brooks family moved to Elmira, NY, where the family grew. Not only did the youngest son join this burgeoning family, but Eldon and Ruby offered love and guidance to many foster children. Over the years, the Brooks homestead became an initial point of contact for many family members migrating to Elmira. In 1956, Charles married Beverly Jane Rollins from Owego, NY. Their beautiful union created seven children, nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Driven by a strong obligation to his family, Charles completed his bachelor's degree while working full-time and raising a family. His accomplishments earned him a well-deserved promotion, and in 1978, Charles moved his family to Cincinnati, OH. Here he enjoyed a wonderful life dedicated to family, work, and the community. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Cecil and Eldon, Jr. (Giggy), one son, Robert, and one grandson, Gabriel. He is survived by his brother Arnold, six children: Connie, Charles, Jr., Pamela (Robert), Barbara, David (Toshia), and Jacqueline, nine grandchildren: LaShanda (Maurice), Christopher, Brandon, Chantal, Alan, Tobiah, Chauncey, Nina, and Robert, Jr., and nine great grandchildren.
