Catherine Booker was born Catherine Foster on June 11, 1923 in Cincinnati OH. to Lila Bell Weaver and Jesse James Foster. She grew up and attended school in the West End and was the eldest of five sisters: Jesse May, Mary Ramona, Dorothy and Louise. Their parent died when the girls were very young and they were taken in and raised by Mattie, (Madea) and Moses (Poppa) Weaver. She gave birth to one son, Jesse Stenson Jr. and later married Paul Booker. She opened her heart and her home and raised another son, Curtis D. Shepard. She lived most of her adult life in the Walnut Hills area. She was a natural born caretaker. She took care of her younger sisters and dropped out of high school in her senior year to take care of the woman who kept them together, Madea, until she passed away. She went by many names; Catherine, Mrs. Cat, Aunt Cat, Totten, Mrs. Booker, Big Mama and even Ms. Shepard. She loved music and she loved to dance. Her stories of the Cotton Club and hanging out with Sam Cook are favorites. Chances are, someone you know either visited her or stayed in her house at some point. Rather it was you, or another relative, someone you know sat at her kitchen table and listened to music. Her legacy of Unconditional Love and Forgiveness lives on in her two sons; Jesse Stenson Jr and Curtis D. Shepard, her two grandchildren; Rodney Stenson and CaDira Marie Shepard and a plethora of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Walker-Walnut Hills Chapel, 1025 E. McMillan Street, Cincinnati (45206).
