IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carrie (Kellam)
Hill
November 6, 1927 – May 18, 2019
Carrie Kellam Hill, age 91, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Silver Springs, Maryland. She was born November 6, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Mary Lou Washington and Robert Kellam.
Carrie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Beluah Baptist Church. She received her formal education in the Hamilton County Public School system, where she attended Harriet Beecher Stowe High School (Class of 1943), and boy could she tell you a many of fight stories, while attending Stowe. She would end it by saying "I never got my butt whipped".
She was a Daddy's girl growing up and her love for him was inseparable. She would tell him, "You better not be giving your women…My Money". Carrie and her money were one in the same.
In the early 1960s, Carrie met and married Earl Hill until his passing in 2017. She was a proud member of the Cincinnati Eastern Star-Esther Chapter. She loved attending the national conventions and of course the food.
Her passion was always in the capacity of caring and assisting the public; which was exemplified by her vast career from working at the Boys & Girls Club, Food Services at Bethesda Hospital, Capri Pizza and Senior Companion – she really loved her clients and stayed with that profession until she could no longer work.
Carrie loved singing in the choir at Rose Chapel Baptist Church with her daughter Marlyn, playing Bingo, shopping, drinking her beer & Pepsi, bowling and playing cards…especially Bid whist.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl Hill; her beautiful daughter, Marlyn Webster; her parents, Mary Lou Prentice and Robert Kellam; step-father, Willie B. Prentice and grandson, John Prentice.
Carries leaves to cherish her memory, one aunt, Susie Hogue; four beautiful children: Leslie Darby (Lizetta), Betty-Jo Prentice, Michelle Darby and Brenda Wilson (Harold "Buddy"); 15 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, 44 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
