Carolyn Marita
Pearson
February 9, 1975 – April 7, 2026
Carolyn Marita Pearson was born on February 9, 1975, in Newport, North Carolina, to Ella Mae Jones (Wilson) and Frederick Douglas Jones, who preceded her in death. She was raised in Newport and graduated from West Carteret High School. Following her education, Carolyn proudly served in the United States Air Force in Information Management. During her service, she earned numerous honors, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, and the Air Force Training Ribbon.
Carolyn lived a life marked by curiosity, creativity, and deep care for those around her. She found joy in gardening and interior decorating, giving spaces a warm and welcoming touch. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, reading, watching tennis and cheering on her favorite teams, the LA Lakers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She embraced life fully, always open to new experiences and making lasting memories with family and friends.
Carolyn faced a courageous battle with breast cancer, meeting each challenge with strength and determination. Even in the midst of her fight, she remained deeply devoted to her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Though their time with her was far too short, the love she poured into them was profound. In her presence, they experienced warmth, joy, and a bond that will continue to shape their lives. Her resilience and unwavering spirit created a legacy that will live on in them, carried forward in the stories of “Mommy Mommy” that she leaves behind.
Carolyn departed this life on April 7, 2026, at 11:24 a.m. at the VA Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Ciara Pearson and Alexus Wimbish; two grandchildren, Emmett Jones and Sunday Jones; two sisters, Diane Ridley of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Fredericka Dunn of Bogue Sound, North Carolina; and her fur baby, Benji. She will also be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, close family friends.
Carolyn’s legacy of love and courage will live on in all who knew and loved her.
