IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn
Jackson
December 21, 1954 – October 26, 2020
God sent down from the shining courts of glory, a messenger with orders to release from this world of hospitals, medicines, and illness, our dearly beloved, Carolyn, Jackson.
On Monday, October 26, 2020 at her home from complications related to her illness, Carolyn, 65, heard a voice from heaven and died peacefully in her sleep knowing that God had called her name and released her from the help of hospice.
Carolyn Jackson was born in Chicago, Illinois to Annie Ruth and Floyd Jackson. Due to the untimely death of her Mother, she spent her early years between Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, and Louisiana. After high school, she attended Kankakee Community College and finally settled in Cincinnati, OH as a part of a relocation package from her then employer, GE Capital. She spent 19 years with GE before retiring. In Ohio, Carolyn ultimately met the love of her heart, Larry Mitchell and they later moved to Columbus, MS.
Prior to becoming ill, Carolyn loved to travel, entertain, and just have fun. She traveled from the east, south, and north coasts. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone with whom she interacted. Carolyn never complained about her illness or situations, as her favorite words were, "I'm good!" As her illness became more severe, she became more private in her later years and preferred to focus on her close friends and family. Once she became less mobile, her hobbies centered on watching movies and cooking shows on YouTube, teaching her son how to cook her favorite dishes, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her grandmother, Carrie Lee Everette, her parents, Annie Ruth and Floyd Jackson, spouse, Larry Mitchell, her grandsons, Anfernee Daniel and Adrian Jackson, her brothers, Joseph Horne and Willie Jackson, and sisters, Mazel Watson and Minnie Lawrence Young.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by: sons, Joseph Everette and Christopher Jackson; daughter, Christina Willis (Christopher Willis); grandchildren, Christian Jackson, Matthew Everette, Khreah Everette, Xarianna Brown, Kennedy Everette, and Raina Jackson; one great granddaughter, Sylena Jade Everette; her sisters, Augusta Good (Ronald Good) Joyce Anderson, Blanchie Delk (Willie Delk), and Virginia Horne. Carolyn's deceased aunts, Hazel Thomas (Metairie, LA) and Mary Collins (Kankakee, IL.) helped Mother Dear (her grandmother) to rear her. She leaves a number of cousins that were raised with her as sisters after the death of her mother, Mildred (Randolph) Butler, Dorothy Jackson, Judy Norgah, Annie Ruth Thomas, Zerah Melaccio and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
