Obituary

Carmen (Candy) A. Boswell passed away on January 12, 2026, at Christ Hospital following several health complications. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to the dedicated medical team whose tireless efforts provided Carmen with every possible chance to recover.

A Life of Service and Family Born in Newport, Kentucky, on January 13, 1953, Carmen was the daughter of the late Margaret C. France and Alfred Henderson, and the granddaughter of the late Virginia and Robert Strange. She is survived by her devoted husband, Clyde Boswell; her children, Darryl Erkins and Shawna Powell; and her stepchildren, Darrilyn Smith (Deon), Clyde Boswell Jr., and Tracie Fears. The second of four siblings, Carmen was preceded in death by her sister, Olivia Talbot (Wilbur). Her memory is cherished by her sisters, Michelle and Bobbi France, and her additional siblings Alfred Craig Henderson, Muhammed Ameen (Soade), Eric Henderson, and Crystal Wimzie (John). Carmen's legacy continues through her ten grandchildren—Joshua, Jayda, Clyde III, Shane, Shaun, Demetrius, Andrew, Shawn, Keeyan, and Trinity—as well as six great-grandchildren and a large, devoted extended family and friends.

Faith, Hobbies, and Profession Raised in the Catholic faith and later a member of Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church, Carmen's greatest joy was her family. She was an avid traveler, visiting Hawaii, California, and Florida. A passionate reader, she loved romance novels and epic series like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. She also found joy in collecting dolls and all things Disney. After graduating from Holmes High School in 1970, Carmen's professional journey began with the Model City program in Covington, Kentucky, followed by a tenure at 5/3 Bank. She later specialized in Workers' Compensation at Kroger and Bethesda Hospital. She concluded her career as a Distinguished Leader through the Eagle Leadership Program at The Sheakley Company and finally as a Claims Specialist at Sedgwick.

Community and Legacy Dedicated to her community, Carmen was active in the American Businesswomen's Association (ABWA), volunteered for the 1984 Rainbow Push campaign, served as a Butler County poll worker, and was a proud "Little Red Machine" team mother.
