Carlvin James Reese (Butch), age 63, of Dayton,Ohio was born on May 9, 1959. He passed away unexpectedly at Christ Hospital on January 1, 2023, in Cincinnati, Ohio. His parents were Calvin Reese and Geneva Ann Reese. Geneva legally adopted Butch at 2 years of age. His biological mother was Joyce Goff. Butch attended Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, Ohio.
After graduation Butch decided to join the Army. During his 4 years in the Army, he became an expert in grenades and a sharpshooter. His specialty was wire systems installer/ operator. He ended his service honorable as a 258th Sig Co FORSCOM FC in Fort Gordon, GA. He later worked for his grandfather's construction company. He also drove a semitruck for years.
Butch was the kindest most gentle man you ever wanted to meet. He would do anything for his family. His favorite pastime was fishing and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents; Calvin Reese, Geneva Reese & Joyce Goff; siblings, Todd Reese, Teresa Reese-Johnson, Sally Reese & Renea Goff; Grandparents, Claude & Gladys Chattams, Wallace & Sally Goff.
He leaves to cherish his memory; His wife Myalyn Reese; children, Dejrick Reese, Chelea (Thomas) Hopkins, Cievion Smith, Delania Dunn, Deshella Dallas & Demario (Dasha) Frankmann; siblings, Rodney Reese, Chanda Reese, Rhonda (Kenneth) Jackson, Kasey Chattams, Kristina Goff; Jeanne Montgomery Bell; Grandchildren (11), Layton Reese, Jontaya Reese, Kelsey Reese, Lukas Hopkins, Ariana Hopkins, Ezekiel Hopkins, Sophina Hopkins, Jahniya Holmes, Patrick Frankmann, Lelani Frankmann, Layah Frankmann; Aunts, Annette Phelps, Cecilia Chattams, Phyllis Stewart; special mother-in-law Lucille Kyler and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. "A precious one from us is gone" A voice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our house that never can be filled. He will not be forgotten, though on earth he is no more. But in memory he is with us, as he always was before.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 pm, on Monday, January 23, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Ridgewood Heights, 116 Hanover Avenue, Dayton, Ohio (45417). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12:30 pm. and ending at 1:30 p.m.
Committal Service with full military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
