Carl
Prince
July 21, 1951 – February 25, 2026
Carl Prince, was born on July 21, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, born to the lade Joseph and Christine Prince.
Carl grew up in the Laurel Homes with his five siblings: Reggie, Rodney, his twin Calvin, Winnie and Chris. Growing up in this neighborhood meant being surrounded by more than just neighbors-it was a true family; everyone looked out for one another.
Carl was educated in the Cincinnati Public School system; attending Washburn Elementary, Bloom Junior High and Robert A. Taft High School.
Carl was a true DTW (Down the Way) original, rooted in the heart of Downtown and Over-the-Rine and proud to call it home. You could often find him posted up at Sweet P’s Barbershop or laughing and talking at Skeeters Salon, where conversations flowed just as easy as the clippers and combs. Those weren’t jus business to him-they were community, connections and culture. He loved his neighborhood deeply, and it loved him right back.
Carl had a signature style, and it started from the top. Whether is was a sharp wide brim, a classic Kangol, or a smooth Stetson, his hat weren’t just accessories-they were statements. He wore them with confidence, like each one told a price of his story.
Carl took pride in his work, contributing to projects at Paul Brown Stadium-now known as Paycore Stadium-where his craftsmanship became part of something bigger than himself. Through his work with Studio Virtu, he helped preserve memories by placing photographs onto marble tile, turning special moments into lasting pieces of art.
Carl met Rosemary in the late nineties. Their love story span for over three decades, officially saying “I do” on April 9, 2021. Through they were married for five beautiful years, their bond was built on a lifetime of shared memories, unwavering commitments, and a love that stood the test of time.
He loved to dance, loved to celebrate, and never missed a chance to party with his family and his wife by his side. Those gathering weren’t just evens-they were memories in the making. And when the music quieted down, you could find him in a softer moment, reading to his grandchildren, pouring the same love and warmth into their stories that he brought to every dance floor.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Christine Prince, grandmother Mabel Williams; Brothers: Christopher, his twin Calvin, sister: Winaferd and grandson Deshawe.
C
arl leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife: Rosemary; children: Latoya, Deshawn, Rosetta, Martina; brothers: Reginald, and Rodney (Fannie); grandchildren Dave’Yair, Dia’Ajnae, Da’Kari, Janiyah, Jaylen, Shamir, Jaron, Rishina: nephew James, Alvon, Rodney and Kelvin; nieces: Christy, Dia and Crystal; great-grandson Mi-King, great-nephew: Joseeph Christopher (JC).
