IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carl D.
Brown
May 13, 1943 – October 16, 2016
Carl D. Brown was born in Akron, Ohio, on May 13, 1945, to the late Moses Brown and Jelline (nee Scott) Jordan. When Carl was three years old, the family moved to Springfield, Massachusetts. He attended elementary, high school, and college in the Springfield area. He relocated to the greater Cincinnati area in 1966. He worked for the Butler County Housing Authority and the Cincinnati Free Clinic, CORVA, and the West End Center. Carl enjoyed relaxing with his many close friends, conversing, and listening to music. He deejayed from his extensive record collection. In 1984, he made a reality his longtime dream of owning a bar when he opoened "Carl's Place." There he fostered the same relaxed atmosphere that made him a good host when he entertained his friends at his home. However, too soon he was forced to leave the bar business due to his ill health. In spite of the health challenges that plagued him the rest of his life, he continued to be a source of strength to his may friends. His instincts were always to be a powerful advocate for friends in difficulty, to be the first to jump in to help find solutions to their problems. Carl was preceded in death by brother, Clarence Brown of Akron and sister, Inez Pugh. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved beloved sister, Delores (Aubrey) Thomas of Douglasville, Georgia and Phyllis Morrison of Mountaun View, California; Brothers, William (Sonya) Scott of Douglasville, Georgia and Homer Scott of Springfield, Massachusetts and Dorothy Law of Akron, Ohio. He was especially close to his nephews David (Olga ) Scott and Robert (Usha) Scott of San Jose, California and close nieces Karen Scott and Sharon Scott of Douglasville, Georgia and Marcene Brown of Akron Ohio.
