Captain Dave Austin Hopkins, DMD, 28, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2009. Dave served in the United States Air Force in the 377th Dental Squadron at Kirtland Air Force Base. Born September 21, 1980, in Pikeville, Ky,, he was the beloved son of Dr. Gary Hopkins and Joyce Hopkins of Forest Hills, Ky. Dave was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alex Hopkins of Forest Hills; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Viola Sparks of Carlisle, Ky., and a cousin, Jeff Smith of Slaters Branch, Ky. Dave attended Belfry High School, Transylvania Univer-sity and the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry. Dave was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belfry, Ky. In addition to his parents, Dave is survived by a sister Carla Renee (Stephen) Griesch of Lexington, Ky; fiancee Natasha Ospino of Albuquerque, N.M.; paternal grandmother Orlean Hopkins of Forest Hills, Ky.; special cousins Mallie Blackburn, Alison (Brandon) Murrell, Megan Darrell, Garrick Hammons, Gina (David) Brien, Angie Stafford, John (Fonda) Stafford and Paul Stafford; aunts and uncles Col. Joe (Brooke) Sparks, Sandy (Gary Neal) Blackburn, Pricy (David) Darrell, Missy (Geoff) Hammons, Jan Sparks, Karen (Danny) Kennedy and Bill (Debbie) Sparks, as well as numerous other family and dear friends. Interment at the Evergreen Memory Gardens, in Paris, KY.
