Calvin Lee Peeples was born Saturday, June 12, 1943, in Monticello, Arkansas, the eldest son of Ransom and Ethel Mae (Flemister) Peeples. One week after the celebration of his 83rd birthday, on Friday, June 19, 2026, Calvin transitioned from

this physical world and ascended to his forever home.

As a boy growing up in Monticello, Calvin became a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he turned his life over to Christ at an early age. He was a boy scout and later attended Drew High School. It was while he was in high school where a friend told him there was someone he thought he should meet…that someone was Jane.

After graduating high school, Calvin and Jane went on to attend the University of Arkansas AM&N, now UAPB. Calvin majored in Biology, served as a class officer, the President of his chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated (member since 1962) and President of the Pan-Hellenic Council, a member of the Science Club and the Editor of the Lion, his college yearbook.

After graduating college, Calvin married Jane on June 6, 1965. He was recruited by Procter & Gamble, where he worked for 30 years. When they first moved to Cincinnati, their first apartment was in the King Towers in Madisonville. Calvin and Jane would later move to Silverton in 1969 where they grew their family and turned their house into a home. Calvin became a member of Greater Liberty Baptist Church on June 29, 1969, under the pastorate of the late Jerome M Lewis, Sr. He was a member of the Capital Campaign Committee as its recording secretary and a member of one of its initiatives, the Trash to Treasures drive. Calvin was also a member of the Cincinnati/Dayton UAPB alumni chapter. where he served as treasurer.

Whether you knew him as Calvin, Cal or C.P., you knew a man who was an avid golfer, known to do the New York Times crossword puzzle- in ink, enjoyed photography, travel, Craftsman style design and the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, and family ancestry. He would jump into the air and click his heels together just to amuse his girls while they were growing up. He was a man with a magnificent whistle- the lightness and tone was like a songbird. Calvin was not only formally educated, but he was a man who actively practiced common sense. He was witty and could be heard saying such things as “Perfection stifles”, “This too shall pass” and repeated the words his father said as he became a man of a certain age… “Once a man, twice a child”.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents Ransom and Ethel Mae (Flemister) Peeples, three half- siblings- Aaron Peeples, Homer Peeples and Elois (Peeples) Colton, his in-laws- Samuel Mack and Mae Ellen (Walker) Graham, his four brothers-in-law- Herman (Eliza) Graham, Samuel Jr (Marie) Graham, Adam Graham, and Felix (Eutivi) Graham, his three sisters-in-law- Virginia (Freddie) Miller, Alma (Clarence) Butler, and Kathryn (George) Young.

Calvin is survived by his beautiful wife, Jane Alden (Graham) Peeples, two daughters- Andrea Cheryl Peeples (Vernon G. Pringle) and Alison Elaine Peeples, grandson Vernon Griffin Pringle, brother Charles Edward Peeples (Vicki Eggleston), three sisters- Verlenda Jean (Peeples) Harris, Zenobia Mae Ridgell, and Vera Tean (Peeples) Parks (Willie Parks), sister-in-law Rubye Jewel (Graham) Emerson (Leroy Emerson) and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and an endless number of friends who felt and moved just like family.

Calvin’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched. We ask that you continue to honor this great man, that you pay forward the blessings you received from knowing and interacting with him. Do not let his gift end, carry it with you in all ways.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 6209 Desmond Street, Madisonville (45227). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

He will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
