IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Calvin Wayne
Julius
October 27, 1954 – November 16, 2024
Calvin Wayne Julius, age 70, of Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Mercy West Hospital.
Calvin was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 27, 1954, at John Gaston Hospital, to the parents of Oscar Lee and Mary Lee Julius. He is the third of eleven siblings, eight brothers and three sisters.
As a child, young Calvin grew up, partly in Memphis and Cincinnati. In Memphis, he attended Hyde Park Elementary and Cypress High School. In Cincinnati, he attended Hoffman Elementary, Sawyer Junior High, and Withrow High School. He was an avid sports fan and while at Cypress, he was a member of the football team.
He enjoyed music, particularly Motown and R&B. But one of the things that Calvin loved most was telling life stories. He had a way of keeping you engaged with his photographic memory and humorous details. He also was a fantastic dancer and roller skater.
In 1973, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served until 1977, when he was honorably discharged. His service to his country allowed him to attend Technicon Automotives on the G.I. Bill, continuing his education in the automotive industry.
On October 12, 1977, Calvin joined Debra F. Roberts in marriage at Pearly Gates Missionary Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee by reverend Warner C. Jackson. To this union were born three sons, DeWayne, Chauncey, and Ephraim Julius.
Calvin was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lee Julius and younger brother Steven Julius. He is survived by his father Oscar Lee Julius Sr.(Evangeline and sons: Tony and Marcus) West Palm Beach, Fl.; spouse, Deborah; sons: DeWayne, Chauncey (Karri), Ephraim. He also leaves his siblings: Terry Julius (Michele), Oscar Julius Jr. (Mary), Sharon Julius, Jacqueline Julius, Troy Julius (Gwen), Bobby Julius, and Michelle Julius; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
